Grmph.

This ought to be some cheerful entry on how I shall be in America in three weeks' time, and it may well turn out to be, but at the moment I am somewhat peeved. I have learned that a large number of people posting on the internet are assbags, but some really do take the biscuit.

For instance the guy who, having read my potted history on my IMVU page, took it upon himself to message me to the effect of "you're not a very good Christian, you seem more interested in Ancient Egypt and Japan, and they're pagan". Well thank you for that insightful comment, jerk. How you think you can a)understand my personal beliefs from a few paragraphs of attempted introduction and b)think you have any right to criticise me is absolutely beyond my comprehension.

Reading just about anything I write on the internet is unlikely to give any idea of how I feel in real life. Reading my blog will give you a skewed vision of what I do with my days, reading anything in which I RP will give you a completely reversed image of my general personality and reading a stupid blurb on IMVU is not going to give you a decent impression of my spirituality!

For the record, I have often considered whether my interests are appropriate to my faith and I concluded they are, provided I apply my Christian standards to them. For example, I don't worship Egyptian gods, I don't watch hentai. Many, many people considerably more devout than me have studied ancient Egypt and with regard to Japan, comparative culture and religion is encouraged by most churches in this day and age!

It angers me somewhat that this assbag even bothers me. I am absolutely secure in my faith, though I suppose I can't help but be offended by someone suggesting otherwise. I just feel that it is mean-spirited and plain wrong to do so. I admit I'm not the best Christian in the world, I'm not always generous, I'm not always instantly forgiving, but at the very least I admit it and I try not to judge others harshly. But my failings are between me and God, not me and some bloke on the internet.

As far as I'm concerned, I'm Christian. I don't believe in all of the doctrine of any particular denomination but I believe in God and I believe in living my life as best I can. I believe in understanding and appreciating the beliefs, and even lack of beliefs, of others provided they reciprocate that respect. Goodness knows I have spent many an hour in friendly debate with atheists, all of whose opinions I value. We all see the world in a different way and none of us can understand it on our own. Meeting people with other beliefs is not a threatening thing but an opportunity to explore my own ideas. This is why I loved visiting Buddhist and Shinto sites in Japan. I have a huge amount of respect for other religions, even if I don't follow them, and I find it pleasing to see the similarities between faiths.

I can't help but feel that if people of other faiths or of no faith are working for the good of our world and our fellow humans, how is that going to make God angry? I owe an enormous amount to certain people I know are atheists, and I can't imagine that they won't be rewarded for the huge good they have done me and other people, even if they don't follow the faith I believe to be right.

I could go on and on about this, and I hope that demonstrates what an important issue it is for me, but I won't, because I'd rather people read a little blog entry about it than ignored an enormously detailed one. So, uh, that's the end of Katy Religion 101.

Comment, y'all.

Shock!!

IT'S THE END!! THE END!!

^__________________________^

(This uberglee does not, incidentally, refer to the end of my job today, but The End. About which I am simultaneously gleeful and very sad. However, let it be known that Scream and Run Away (video three here) is the most excellent song ever.)

*sigh of relief*

So I'm back after this little bugger being dead for a while. Thank you manifold times to Finch for sorting it out. You are a technological saint. ^___^

I have many hundreds of things I want to talk about, not least of all why Kingdom Hearts 2 rocks my world, but for the moment I'm meant to be getting out of bed and ready to go to the cinema. So in lieu of actual content, here's a quiz. If you have sufficient inputs of your own, I would love to see other people's versions.

Le Grand Original Fic Quiz

List 10 of your original characters:

01. Riri

02. Aeleres

03. Kazhul

04. Nefertynahkty

05. Tredeager

06. Ilando

07. Abelard

08. The Prince

09. Eiko

10. Tora

01)Who would make a better college professor, 6 or 1? What subjects would they teach? Ilando, if we weren't dead, Mainly because I don't think Riri would respond well to a normal people job. History.

02) Do you think 2 is hot? How hot? Aeleres is beautiful but so not hot. You'd get killed for saying that to her.

03) 3 sends 8 on a mission. What is it, and does it succeed? Kazhul is about the only one with enough class to ask The Prince to do something for him! It would probably either be something mundane like finding a book, or something really surreal like fighting things off at the Gate. The Prince would succeed so hard. ^__^

04) What is or would be 9's favorite book? Probably Genji or a random magical textbook.

05) Would it make more sense for 2 to swear fealty to 6, or the other way around? Aeleres would have sworn fealty to Ilando if they'd been alive together!

06) For some reason, 5 is looking for a roommate. Should he/she share a studio apartment with 9 or with 10? Tredeager would take Eiko, on ground of a) her being slightly more corporeal, and b) he would probably think she was hot. ^__^

07) 8, 7 and 2 have dinner together. Where do they go, and what do they discuss? We'd be suffering from not being alive at the same time with the men and Aeleres, but if they were to, conversation would probably revolve around Ilando and what is going on in his head, and land politics. They're all far too serious, bless them. ^_^ They would eat at the Folly or The Prince's castle.

08) 3 challenges 10 to a duel. What happens? It would totally happen the other way round. Kazhul would look flustered and Tora would not turn up just to mess with Kazhul's head.

09) If 1 stole 8's most precious possession, how would she/he get it back? Riri wouldn't steal, she'd absentmindedly borrow and then have The Prince gently remind her some time later. ^__^

10) Suggest a title for a story in which 7 and 2 both attain what they most desire: Completion

11) What kind of plot device would you use if you wanted 4 and 1 to work together? When Nef arrived at the Folly a fair amount of working together had to happen. She was lost and Riri invited her to stay!

12) If 7 visited you for the weekend, how would you get along? I'd be terrified he would think I was a horrible peasant and pretend someone else's house were mine for the weekend. ^__^;;

13) If you could command 3 to perform any one task or service for you, what would it be? Give me a hug. ^_____^

14) Does anyone on your friends list write or draw 1? Yes.

15) If 2 had to choose sides between 4 and 5, which would it be? Aeleres would choose Tre in a battle between the two, Nef if Tre were trying to get frisky with her. ^__^;;

16) What might 10 shout while charging into battle? Absolutely nothing, she'd smile sweetly and kill them all.

17) If you chose a song to represent 8, which song would you choose? Barber's Adagio for Strings or if we're being modern, Clubbed to Death by Rob D.

18) 1, 6, and 4 are having dim sum at a Chinese restaurant. There is only one scallion pancake left, and they all reach for it at the same time. Who gets to eat it? Ilando, Riri and Nef would be too polite to argue. The girls would politely pressure him in to having it. ^__^

19) What might be a good pick-up line for 6 to use on 10? Nobody in the WORLD would try to pick up Tora. She's predatory enough as it is, and after what happened with John...

20) What would 5 most likely be arrested for? *laaaaaughs* Probably indecent exposure! ^__^;;;

21) What is 6's secret? Not so much of a secret, he's mad as a March hare and in love with the sea spirits.

22) If 1 and 9 were racing to a destination, who would get there first? Eiko, she can probably teleport by now and would have no qualms about laying a few non-lethal traps down for Riri's amusement.

23) If you had to walk home through a bad neighbourhood late at night, would you feel safer in the company of 7 or 8? Pretty evenly matched between the two, though I think The Prince because he would be armed by default.

24) 1 and 9 reluctantly team up to save the world from the threat posed by 4's sinister secret organization. 2 volunteers to help them, but it is later discovered that he/she is actually a spy for 4. Meanwhile, 4 has kidnapped 5 in an attempt to force their surrender. Following the wise advice of 5, they seek out 3, who gives them what they need to complete their quest.

-What title would you give this fic? Thank Heavens We are All Alive at the Same Time or This Would Not Make Much Sense, or What I Did This Weekend. The Theban Affair.

*coughs* I know that's somewhat abstract to most people because I don't actually admit to the rest of the world that I even have original characters most of the time, but I really enjoyed doing that quiz and felt it was a shame to let it go to waste. ^__^;;
