Hisashiburi...

OK, bloggage. At her cordial request. ^_^

The main reason I haven't actually blogged for a while is because I've spent most of this week worrying about money et al. o_0 And that's an exceptionally dull topic, so I shalln't bother with it. And hey, Daniel just found ¥1000 in my jeans, so nuh, world. ^_____^

One thing I keep meaning to blog about, and now is totally an appropriate time to do it, is just how adorable some of the children/schoolkids I've met in passing are. Not the ones I teach myself (not that they're not wonderful though), but one who've just talked to us in passing because *shock!* we're gaijin! Like this afternoon, cycling home from the shops, a crowd of elementary school children walked past me and squealed "Amerikajin! Amerikajin!" in complete flabbergastation. ^__^ Which was only to be compounded when I informed them I was an even rarer species, an Igirisu! ^____^ It was just so incredibly cute how shocked they were that they'd found one of these strange foreigners, and how they started blurting out all the English they knew. ^____^ I love the kids here.

So the little elementary school kids were lovely, but I have to say I was so completely knocked out by something that happened last week when we were in MacDonalds. We were waiting to get our take-out when a huge bunch of boys from the local high school came in. *groan* I thought, thinking what the parallel situation in England/America usually entails.

(eeheeheehee! I have to stop there because the children of one of our neighbours just poked their heads in to say hello, followed by many a "sumimasen!" from their mother! I don't mind, they're sweet!! ^_________^)

Anyway, where was I? Yep, we were in MacDonalds when a gaggle of teenagers turned up. Quelle horreur. Except they milled around quietly for a few seconds, then one of them came up to us and wanted to talk. Then the rest of his friends joined in when he found out we didn't bite. ^___^ It was so funny, they spoke pretty good English and they all really seemed to enjoy being able to try it out. ^__^ The one who asked me how old I was and then said I looked young for my age won bonus points with me too. ^________^

But anyway, yes, I love Japanese kids. I think they're infinitely nicer than the varieties I've encountered in England and America.
