KARAOKE!! ^__________^

SQUEE!! ^_______^ Tonight I had my first encounter with proper karaoke. Oh it is tet crack it is so much teh proverbial shiny crack.

THEY LET ME SING NEKO MIMI MODE!!!!!!!!!!!

SQUEE!! ^________________________^

...to be fair it is the easiest song to sing ever even with the words in kana because it does essentially go ネコミミモド。。。ネコミミモドでーす!! over and over and over again. BUT THIS DOES NOT DETRACT FROM THE FUN BECAUSE EVERYONE CAN SING ALONG!!

フルフルフルモオーン!

Other highlights included completely losing my voice after the first hour, singing Real Emotion from FFX-2, Eyes on Me, GHOSTBUSTERS and the new best song ever to sing karaoke to, the Immigrant Song by Led Zepplin.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH!!

And now I must sleep because I'm so incredibly tired from the night's excitement. @_@

Mmmm futonet...

I'm still in awe of our shiny wireless intercrack we have in the house now. Being able to blog wrapped in huge quantities of futon is A Good Thing.

I'm also in awe of futons as the ultimate in wireless bedding. Don't like your bed in this room? Move it to the other one, the whole bed only weighs an ounce! ^___________^

Yay Japan and your shininess.

We have been spending a great deal of money on renting dvds recently. (Well, no, not a *great* deal because it's only 50p a throw in the rental shop, but we have had plenty out. ^____^) Between sharing lovely lovely 24 crack with the household (season 2, where things go *particularly* silly), Saint Seiya (WHEN WHOEVER HAS DISCS 3 TO 6 OUT RETURNS THEM THE POOHEAD) and bajillions of Studio Ghibli films, we barely ever have to suffer the wonders of the Japanese variety show. o_0 Really, at least in England these things were relegated to Saturday nights, but here - all the time.

(No, this is a great big slur on Japanese terebi actually. I do like some of it. Like the program we watched called "My First Errand". Pairs of small children let loose in public (under the disguised supervision of cameramen, though the kids don't know it) and made to go shopping, cart about lobsters etc. Who would have thought children arguing would make such good terebi?! ^_______^)

I digress. Last night we watched The Cat Returns, which I can now officially tell you is my second favourite Ghibli film ever after Totoro. I was never much of a fan of Whispers of the Heart, but The Cat Returns so very much makes up for it. Baron love! ^________^ Neko-ouji-sama love! ^_______^ Irritating bint turning into catgirl love! ^_________^

I so very much need to buy that film on dvd.

Tanuki Bollocks

...or We Just Watched Pom Poko and understand now why it's one of the lesser known Ghibli films. ^____________^

Tanuki bollock parachutes! ^____________^

Suffice to say we enjoyed it. Everyone should go and find a copy of it and scar themselves for life.

In other news, I love the new addition to my technological family. Nintendogs may be the greatest thing I have ever played ever, and Meteos is teh proverbial crack. Yes I could have been trendy and got a PSP but they're ¥10,000 more expensive and just don't have as many games I want to play yet. Except Katamari Damacy, and that's not out til next month. I love Katamari Damacy. The thought of being able to play it on the train to work makes me gnaw my fingers in excitement. @_@

Work, incidentally, is going well. School, children, dog all very fun, although I have yet to see whether Mi-chan responds to a stylus.

Oh yes, the Nintendogs developers win my infinite awe for having created a game you can interact with by BREATHING. I kid ye not.

KYAAA!!! ^______^

ADVENT CHILDREN! ^_____________________________^

JENNY-SAN JENNY-SAN!! ADVENT CHILDREN!! ^_________________^

*squeaks and runs in circles*

Yes, shiny Sephy-sama has turned me into a demented mouse. HE IS SO SHINY!! I don't care if I only understood marginally less than ten percent of anything that was being said - SHINY-ROTH!!! This makes me so very happy. As does comedy duo Reno and Rude. They remind me of Tomo and Kagura in Azumanga Daioh. @_@

Thar be spoilers ahoy.

I said, THAR BE SPOILERS AHOY!

Oh poor shiny Sephiroth. I really shouldn't have expected the film to turn out in the badly-plotted-Katy-fanfiction way it would in my head, but at least he's not dead only sleeping. He is, you know. It's true. *nods*

The audience with which I watched the film (D and Ed, one of the students here) proved amusing, since a) none of us exactly understood the dialogue and b) Ed is an Aeris fanboy. I think I may have frightened him a tiny bit with my obssessive Sephy-love and entirely too detailed knowledge of Sephy-sama's backstory. @_@ I freely admit I'm a one trick pony on the FFVII front. Vincent is adorable, Cloud is irritating but Sephy-sama is indeed where it's at (with or without the two turntables and a microphone...)

I was happy with Advent Children, despite my Sephy-loving, protagonist-tachi-hating ways. The keyword is, of course, shiny...and fanservicey, but then the whole Compilation of FFVII is a big fanservicey cash cow anyway. NOT THAT I AM COMPLAINING!!111oneone

In summary. Animation pretty, plot not-exactly-comprehensible to me so far, Sephy shiny. Much Katy glee at big fight scene. Request to Jenny-sama for translation of Sephy dialogue. Onegaishimasu. >_<;;;;;

Food.

I'm back now

In the sense that I:m on this blog. I am indeed still in Japan. I:m sorry bloggage hase been a bit sparse recently, but I:ve been rushed off my feet. @_@;; Between teaching, running eBays and acclimatising myself to this country, I:ve spent very little time online. ^_^;; And tomorrow we move in to the new house in lovely lovely Dazaifu, which, as you may have guessed, is lovely.

We went to Dazaifu yesterday to visit the big famous shrine there. When Liz is back from work I:ll try and post some pictures, but in reality it may not be today because I Have To Pack. ^_^;; But pictures will come at some point. Of both the shrine and THE SHOP FILLED WITH TOTOROS!! ^___________^ Oh this made me happy yes it really really did. I love Japan.

Daniel arrived safe and sound this weekend and has been having a "whu? where is this place?" sort of week, much like my first week here. This may not have been aided by the huge amounts of Katamari Damacy all three of us have been playing. @_@ It:s so goooood. We will in fact be buying the second one very shortly. Who wouldn:t love rolling up cows and elephants and entire countries with giant magic balls to the crackiest music you:ve ever heard? I KNOW WE LOVE IT!!

This country is very hot.
