Mmm

*looks at bottle of hair dye on shelf*

I'm looking forward to tomorrow.

^_________^

In other news, I went to the theatre tonight with mum and Daniel. Love's Labours Lost, which wasn't bad, although probably not my favourite bit of Shakespeare. But well acted nonetheless. I need to get my culture somewhere if I'm going to sit around the house all day being infected with Diagnosis Murder and *cough* Big Brother *cough*.

Ummm....oh yes! I'm having angst. Why can't I even find Bakuten raws now? :( Surely they're still churning out the raws aren't they? This upsets me, since I've only seen up to episode 12 and that ended with a cliffhanger. >_< However, on a similar note, I do have a little bit of Bakuten glee today at least. Mmmmm cheesy image songs glee! ^_______________^ Fushigi Tokyo Cinderella is everything that's just so darn *right* about Bakuten in such a wrong way. :D I'll find some way of subjecting it on everyone, don't worry.

Oh yes, one last thing before I have to go to bed. The new subtitle for the blog was a request from the boyfriend. You can play the "guess who this is refering to" game if you want, it's a quote we found on 1up.com. ^________^

*makes irate face*

I have a question I wish to ask of all and sundry. And this is totally serious, if people think it's a good idea I'll do it.

I'm fed up of my hair being in the state it is. I think everyone knows what I mean. >_< So, as an act of rebellion and outright frustration I'm seriously considering shaving my head then dying it something stupid when it grows back. Possibly pink.

So, shall I?

So what have you been doing, Katy?

Well I'm glad you asked, blog. No, no I'm not because this requires coherent thought, but whilst I'm in a bit of a bad mood I suppose I shall do it.

I'm in a bad mood. Don't know why. Possibly spending too much time in Grantham at the moment. Which reminds me, could any of the Ass no Ryu contact me about availability for travel excitement in the next couple of weeks? I don't want it to get to the point where Daniel's almost about to go home and he hasn't seen London etc.

So, maternal parental unit has been home this week so we have been going on expeditions (and yet I am still fed up with Grantham??) Chatsworth House and Burleigh House were both very nice, although Chatsworth wins for the fact that they have some Egyptian artefacts and the lovely steward man let me go and have a good look at their Sakhmet statues when I said I was an Egyptologist. I also got to *shock horror* put my degree to practical use and tell the parents/helpful member of staff what it said on the stelae/statues. ^____^ Quite jolly to know I haven't had all my Egyptian fall out of my head post-finals.

Went to see Shrek 2 after that, during which Daniel and I may have been suffering from what I will term "School of Rock syndrome" (which anyone who came on the first Ass no Ryu outing to see that film will understand ^_^;;;;) because quite a few times we were laughing hysterically. o_0 If anyone is yet to go and see it, please do stay for the credits, it's possibly the best bit of the film (apart from the Donkey's added exclamation in the dinner-table fight ^____^)

Yesterday we went to Denby to the pottery which was surprisingly interesting. We got to make little pottery frogs and paint plates. ^__^ I will get round to painting my frog when I can find some black and red nail varnish. He will be a Hellsing frog, because I say so. :p

Where else have we been of late? I apologise for this being in no sort of chronological order, not that it really matters. We went to Nottingham and the *shudder* caves. (Un)Fascinating Fact: Katy really, really hates caves. I only went in because I thought it might be something interesting for Daniel to see, and I figured since I'm now All Grown Up I ought to have gotten over my cave-o-phobia. Noooooo, I spent the larger part of an hour-long tour of the teeny-tiny Nottingham caves wanting to be sick. o_0 I was extremely happy when we got out and I could flee to the relative safety of Forbidden Planet to purchase some Hellsing manga (only the English I'm afraid) and be incredibly lucky with a capsule machine and get a keyring of Auron. ^____^

Oh yes, I mention this with you in mind. Daniel and I binged on the Juuni Kokki dvds you left us. I. Love. Juuni Kokki. ^_______^ And you know what else? So does Daniel! ^_____^ He's incredibly taken with it despite the fact that we started at the beginning of the post-animesoc arc and every two seconds I had to dredge pieces of Juuni Kokki vocabulary back from the dark recesses of my mind. He really wants to see the rest of it now, as do I, so I think it's going to be on our "to buy" list. It's such a shame that we didn't get to show the next arc of the series at animesoc. For my tastes it's considerably better than the first one. Taiki is adorable, and the considerably larger role of Keiki is indeed welcomed. ^____^

Anyway, I'm going to bed, possibly to read more Lemony Snicket. However, I wish to remind all and sundry I love Juuni Kokki and so should you. o_0

Book squee!!

I went on a trawl for reading matter today, having finished Jennifer Government and remembered I do actually like reading of a non-academic variety. These past few years had entirely sapped my enthusiasm for books, but now I don't have to read anything, I'm quite enjoying it again. And so I took a wander around WH Smiths. And found their lovely buy one get one half price offer on numerous things.

Now my mum has been badgering me for a long time to read the Harry Potter books, and against my better judgment, I'm going to. So this required me to go and buy a copy of the first one. But since it was buy one get one free I had a look for something else I might actually be interested in. Restricted by the offer to the children's section, my jolly little eyes fell upon the Lemony Snicket "A Series of Unfortunate Events" books. I read the first paragraph of the first one and realised I would require this book more than any other work of fiction at this present point in time. ^________^ People who have read it may know why, it essentially explains that bad things happen in this book, and no, there's not going to be a happy ending. ^________^ Just what I want in my fiction!

So I spent this afternoon enjoying that, and enjoy it did I very much do. ^___^ I love Lemony Snicket's writing style, I love the fact that the plot feels like a Tim Burton film, I even love the three main characters, despite them all being children. Sunny is possibly my favourite just because of her healthy attitude towards biting things. ^____^

Anyway, I am now on the hunt for more Lemony Snicket books. If people eye them in second hand bookshops they must tell me. I have book one, and now books three and four thanks to Tasha and eBay. ^____^

Oh yes, notice to all, particularly those who were at my house a couple of weeks ago. I've lost my phone charger. >_< If anyone accidentally took it with them, could they tell me? It's a Sagem one. This does consequently mean that my phone has no charge and I have no way of charging it, so if you try to phone/text me, you're not going to have much luck. >_<

Lemony Snicket glee...Lemony Snicket glee...

Opinonated Rantage of an FFX-2 Type

Soooo...I finished FFX-2 yesterday. After a whole 25hours of sloggage. o_0 Which surprises me because that's less than half of what I usually spend on a Final Fantasy game and I am somewhat disappointed. o_0 However, this business of replaying the game with all your items, dresspheres and garment grids shall keep me amused for a little while longer.

The spoilers being here, by the way...

...

...I'm warning you o_0

...

Alright, if you didn't pay attention, that's your fault. :p Spoilers ahoy. I wasn't wildly impressed with the end of the game. I haven't got the perfect ending yet, so it might be better. I did beat Vegnagun and Shuyin though, so I got a "good" ending. That was a surprisingly easy pair of fights. o_0 I was a little dissatisfied with the lack of continuity with FFX, it felt a bit like "Whee! I'm Yuna, I bring couples that look like me and my dead ex back together....but not us ourselves because I'm a sphere hunter now and I just don't care!" Well alright maybe not but you know what I mean. I did at least want to know *something* about where Tidus went.

As a couple I much prefer Lenne and Shuyin to Tidus and Yuna. They get a bazillion cool points for their death scene in the Yuna-Lenne-sings-crappy-song sequence. Although trying to explain the concept of what makes a "cool" death scene to Daniel was amusing just because I think it leaves everyone but me confused. ^__^;;; It was melodramatic, I like that. ^__^

Anyway, other "goods" before I pour out my scorn. I actually ended up quite liking the battle system. I like the dresspheres thing just because it's a much more flexible version of the job system. I like being able to change mid-battle. As far as the spheres themselves go, why on earth did they have to put arse ones like songstress in? Yes I know it's integral to the plot but it's really crap. :p Daniel and I both agree that the samurai dressphere is cool on a stick and infinitely better than any of the others. ^____^ Followed by warrior, just because everyone gets swords in those spheres. I have a certain fondness for gun mage, just because Yuna gets a really cool costume for that one. The special spheres are on crack for Yuna's, pretty cool for Riku's and Paine's just utterly kicks arse. It's a giant mecha-bird! ^________^ Awesomebad.

Which leads me to my next point, new characters. Paine's not bad, although she could've done with a not bending to the "let's all be cheerful" will of Yuna and Rikku. o_0 There really was not enough angst in this game at all. But then we weren't expecting that, were we? Nooj, I thought, was great. ^___^ Leblanc does not deserve him whatsoever, for lo is he cool and lo is she an annoying bint. I have a fair amount of time for Gippal as well, particularly at the end of the game. I can't think of any more of the new characters to talk about at the moment, so that's that for now.

Right, the bad. Ooooh the bad. The horrible, horrible plot twists involving singing and crap like that. That really got on my nerves. Ohhhh yes, there was one other character I wanted to rant about. Although he does go in the "bad" section. Shinra. o_0 Squenix, what do you think you're playing at? That's not even funny! It's even less funny to make Shinra an irritating little kid who, at the end of the game, starts talking about how, in the future, you could harness the power of the planet to use as energy. Oh gee do we see what they're getting at there, do we? :p Please, if you're going to make clever allusions, Squenix, please don't make them in such a retarded manner. I hate the idea of the Final Fantasy continuity going x -> VII, it's just horrible. o_0

Alright, I think I actually have to go out now. In summary I did like the gameplay in FFX-2, I just loathed all the arse plot around it. o_0

Well

For those who haven't heard, I got a 2:1. That's what I always aimed for so I guess that's all worked out alright. I do feel oddly unenthusiastic about it at the moment, possibly because I don't have any Oxford people around to enthuse with. Which is not to say that Daniel hasn't been lovely about it, because he has taken every opportunity to tell me how proud he is of me, it just feels a bit detached to be getting my big Oxford grade outside of the place itself. I have Oxford withdrawal symdrome, I really do. -_-

But I am pleased with myself for getting a 2:1, in as much as one can/ought to be without getting hatefully proud. I think just about everyone I know who has graduated in recent years has got a 2:1, and I regard all of them to be intelligent people, so that's good. I think I just need to start the whole business of moving on before it can actually sink it that I achieved something fairly decent.

Alright, going to bed now.

Alright

Back up to speed with interesting things now, I suppose. And by interesting things, yes, I do mean things interesting to me. :p One thing I utterly forgot to blog my glee at in the last entry, despite spending most of my waking hours looking at it, was my leaving present from the Ass no Ryu. *falls about in spasms of joy* ENORMOUS PICTURE OF JO GLEE!!! ^______________^ People were evidently paying attention to my ubiquitous jo-squeeage cause they did pick my very favourite picture of her. ^____^

Oh yes, major announcement on the Bakuretsu Tenshi front. Bakuten in change-of-plot shocker!!! o_0!!! Eps nine and ten *didn't* have Meg getting kidnapped and Jo rescuing her! o_0 Be amazed! They were Sei and Amy episodes, and yet they still managed to be amusing. Although frankly the best bit of the Sei episode was Jo watching horror films and stabbing her food in time to the movie. ^___^ Closely followed by her chastising of Amy when she rabbitted the crisis situation of the episode down the phone to her: "I'm not smart, Amy. Explain it to me so that I can understand." ^_________^ *self-deprecating-Jo-squee!!*

Anyway, now I am going to continue dowloading ep 12 and go and clean out Trevor the hamster because frankly he smells of wee. o_0 We need to toilet train him, we really do.
