Q. Ico? What?

A. Hehe. ^__^;; Ico's a Playstation 2 game. It's the story of a boy, Ico, born with horns on his head, who gets imprisioned in a castle because he's thought of as a bad omen. A stroke of luck frees him from his capsule cell and he soon discovers a beautiful spirit girl, Yorda, also apparently trapped in the castle. Although neither speaks the language of the other, they co-operate to try to escape their imprisonment.

Q. How can I get the Ico soundtrack?

A. I do have an official cd of the Ico soundtrack, and it's utterly beautiful. But I'm really sorry to say, I don't intend to put mp3s of it up on this site. I hope this doesn't upset anyone, but it's not a very expensive soundtrack to buy if you like the music enough Otaku.com stock it for a very reasonable $15.95. I'm sure other places stock it, but that's where I got mine from. I'd like to see as many people as possible support the game because I think most fans will agree that it's really not gained the recognition it should have. I'm sorry again if my policy annoys anyone, but that's the one I'm going with. ^__^;;

Q. Why "Island in the Midst"?

A. Well, most fanlistings seem to like having fancy-sounding names and goodness knows I wasn't going to break a pretentious tradition. ^_~ There's a track on the Ico soundtrack called "Castle in the Mist", and the soundtrack itself is called "Melody in the Mist". Now, I applied to make this fanlisting at the end of my time studying for a degree in Egyptology and one of my favourite Egyptian myths is "The Contendings of Horus and Seth". One of the locations in that story is called "The Island in the Midst", so it seemed somewhat personal and appropriate to bring these two rather mystical things together. ^__^ Plus the location of the castle in Ico appears to be on an island so that's all the better. ^__^
