Ginza picks up Kagura, telling her that Shinsen is sick and needs to see her, but it turns out to be a trick - Ginza merely wants Saiga for herself, and proceeds to ravish him while he's unconscious, while Suitengu hauls Kagura off to his labs where his scientists proceed to experiment on her bodily fluids (not like that). Meanwhile, there seems to be something up in the Tennouzu Group - Suitengu announces his intentions to marry Shinsen, but one of her chief supporters is mysteriously bumped off, and Suitengu bribes some shady businessmen to support him.
Well, I'll be surprised if the director's cut of this episode actually manages to be any more explicit than it already was! Goodness me, my British sensibilities were most offended.
Not really, it's only Speed Grapher and the sex/violence/rock'n'roll is pretty old hat by now after the first episode. I quite like that Kagura and Saiga have been captured, actually - the writers keep throwing neat little twists at us, like the upcoming marriage (although I'm surprised that Suitengu's scientists haven't found out about Kagura's brain tumour...) which keep everything afloat despite the ropey animation.
I'm very much looking forward to seeing the proper OP on the next episode, incidentally...
Posted by BluWacky at June 25, 2005 10:03 AM | TrackBackWell in addition to the new OP, be prepared for even more bad animation near the end of the ep. I like the OP though...not great, but anything was better than what we had before.
Posted by: Hephador at June 25, 2005 04:18 PMAm I the only one who's turned off by Ginza's haircut and hair color? I think her character - which could be top-notch fan service - is completely wasted. I wonder whether her over-the-top violence (especially in ep. 10) is supposed to be cool or rather make her unalluring as I perceive it.
I just had to think about Garten's comment when he expected Speed Grapher to match Last Exile in quality. The promotional art really suggested this but hell is it far from that:

I blame it all on Gonzo! Damn you, why must you condemn this show to Korean animators?!
It has so much potential, too... nice settings and designs and what not...
...sigh...
At least the backgrounds are kinda nice.
Posted by: wao at June 26, 2005 02:31 AMI like Ginza's character design a lot personally.
Posted by: Hephador at June 26, 2005 04:05 PMI also liked Ginza's character. However, I'm disappointed to hear what happens. I kinda liked the idea of a gun-toting hedonistic woman who had, in reality, heart of gold (albeit well-hidden). At least, that's what she appeared to be in the episodes before, with her concern for Saiga's safety and all.
Oh well.
