Eyeshield 21 Episode 1 - The Boy with Lightspeed Legs

OP - Breakthrough (Coming Century) - blokey Jpop, fun enough, decent animation although, in a recurring theme for this entry, American football is not my thing.

ED - Be Free (Ricans?) - you know it's a sports anime when you get power rock music. Oh, the cheese.

It's Sena Kobayakawa's first day at high school, and he gets immediately picked on by two members of the American football team. As you do. When accosted by some other bullies, he eventually decides to fight back (having been protected by his older sister all his life) - by running away really, really fast. However, one of the footballers, Hiruma (who looks like a demented elf, frankly), notes that Sena is analysing how to zigzag through crowds of people at lightning speed, and thus recruits him for the football team - codename Eyeshield 21, ready to help the team through to the Christmas Bowl at Tokyo stadium!

Not my cup of tea, I'm afraid. If you like comedy and sports anime, you'll probably quite like Eyeshield 21 - it's not badly made, and it looks like it could be half-decent. But, as a Brit, American football never does anything for me (it's rugby for pansies and you lot know it), and the humour is standard weird anime stuff - a guy who looks like a chestnut, ohohohoho! I'll be passing on this one.
