Kanna (winged girl) has Ryuuya (bloke) as a guardian, with Uraha (giggling one) as a friend in the palace where she lives. They explain the concept of family to the poor girl, who has been imprisoned all her life. She's been dreaming about her mother (remember, children, FLIGHT AND MOTHERS), so Ryuuya has a little chat about mothers and so on, but their happiness is short-lived as Kanna is to be moved on to another shrine - so Ryuuya and Uraha conspire together to "kidnap" Kanna and go in search of her mum. A road trip ensues, with angst about FLIGHT AND MOTHERS along the way alongside some fairly light hearted fun, until they finally reach Kanna's mother.
You know, I really thought I wasn't going to like this arc at all going in. To be honest, I'm still slightly lukewarm to it emotionally - it's a little on the cliched side, with Ryuuya the stalwart protector willing to lay down his life for Kanna who will slowly fall in love with him etc. Yet Kanna is nowhere near as obnoxious as I expected she would be given her entrance in the last episode, and the lovely animation as usual soothes most ills for me. Besides, the arc only lasts one more episode!
