Kyou Kara Maou! Episode 6 - The Cannibal Maken. The Fear of Morgiv?

Pre-nitrous oxide Gwendal.I can't help but think Edvard Munch is turning in his grave at this point (and what would he have thought of Pedro in Excel Saga?)There should be roses. And Armstrong-from-FMA sparkles. Only then would it be truly disturbing.

Yuuri and co. quest to get Morgiv, which has turned a peaceful mountain lake into a seething pool of water that only the Maou's flesh may enter safely. So Yuuri has to get naked to pick up the demon sword, which is starving for souls - and all their best efforts to steal dying human souls fail when Wolfram's beauty cures every sick person they come across. Yozak and Conrad rope Yuuri into entering a gladiatorial fight to try and get some energy for Morgiv - but who should his first opponent be but Rick, the cabin boy Yuuri made friends with last episode. Oh, and Gunther and Gwendal get high on fortune-telling potion fumes.

The amount of mileage they've got out of Wolfram being a pretty boy (does he have a male seiyuu?) is astounding. I think this storyline should finish pretty soon, which is quite nice since it doesn't really have enough substance for an entire series (take note, Saiyuki, you must have gone THROUGH the bleeding West by now...) My one complaint about the show is that I don't really like the main characters aside from Yuuri and Conrad, since the others are a bit too much like charicatures - although it's a nice change from the immediate angsty backstory onslaught other such shows might give the audience, I wouldn't mind seeing a bit more depth to Gunther and Gwendal in particular (Gwendal with that kitten was just...wrong on SO many levels).
