Ghost Hunt Episode 4 - The Doll’s House

SPR’s next case involves the mysterious haunting of a young girl with a creepy dolly named Minnie. Sepia-tinged psychic dreams, rolling heads and Miko Woman being useless ensue!
You may have noticed that I’ve finally lopped a whole load of shows off my “currently watching” list at the side. The only ones I’ve watched very few episodes of that I’ve left are Kekkaishi and Ghost Hunt. Now Kekkaishi’s a no-brainer; it’s undemanding but doesn’t treat its audience like idiots and is nicely made.
But Ghost Hunt? I’d hardly watched any of it, and I hadn’t been making any efforts to catch up (unlike, say, Ayakashi Ayashi, which I’ve decided is unfortunately too much of a lost cause). I decided to keep Ghost Hunt on mainly because I felt it had potential at the end of the first arc (and because my sister said it’s getting good!).
I think I was probably right based on episode 4. I know, it’s still early days, but this episode restored many of the good things about the first episode that were lacking later on in the Full of Ghosts arc; the interesting cuts and occasionally genuinely creepy atmosphere make a rather talky show much more interesting, and although the “case” structure suggests things will be quite formulaic the Doll’s House mystery is pretty intriguing. It’s not going to keep me awake tonight puzzling over what exactly’s up with Ayami and the demon dolly, but it will linger in my mind longer than Yukiatsu and co do (for example) and that can’t be a bad thing really.
