Yamato Nadesico Shichihenge Episode 1
OP - slow (Kiyoharu) - generic bishounen J-Rock with no proper animation.
And I didn’t make it to the ED…

Four bishounen get to live rent free in a mansion as long as they can turn Sunako, the horror-obsessed, ugly young niece of the mansion’s owner, into a beautiful lady. Fat chance; Hilarity Ensues.
Ye gods, could a show be any more obnoxious? I realise “obnoxious” is Nabeshin’s speciality, but it’s all screaming hysterics and overblown acting… I had to turn down the volume and I still ended up with a headache about halfway through (seriously, I’m not joking). Everything about it just rubs me the wrong way - the lipstick-tastic ugly-looking bishounen with their terrible overacting seiyuu, the cheap panning shots and CG effects… gah.
Not for me, thanks.

As long as the rest of the show is as fun as episode 2 (and not as unfunny as episode 1) it’s gonna be a fun show to watch for me.

This show is hysterically funny and very smart, for me. But I can certainly see how it would be possible to be repelled by it. Tastes differ. The OP is not much, but the ED is a classic: David Byrne crossed with David Lynch. But not in any way a “normal” anime ED. Just as the show is not a “normal” anime. If it continues as it is, it may be Nabeshin’s best — and that’s saying something, from as big a fan of PuniPuni Poemi as I am.

The manga was so funny and it has no high hysterical voices … but as an anime fan you should be used to that =P
So far I don’t like the anime that much, but it’s getting better imho … or I’m getting used to it

I agree that there is a lot in this series that irks me. Sunako’s voice, for one thing, is extremely grating. All of the guys have gone off into the wild “bi” yonder, and I can’t tell any of them apart or remember their names. And there’s something about the animation, both quality- and style-wise, that makes me think that this was animated back in the early 90’s before anyone heard of shiny CGI (HORRORS). Still, there’s something entertaining about its take on the shoujo makeover/harem plot; you have to admit that at least Sunako’s a different protagonist, what with her overblown sensitivity. I think if you liked the more random parts of Ouran (e.g. Renge’s motorized platform, the banana-chucking Lobelia monkeys) you’ll like the second episode more than the first one–it’s kind of like a less shiny, primitive cousin.
But I have to admit that Sunako’s voice is seriously getting on my nerves. If anything at all, her voice would be the number one reason why I’d drop this show.

I almost want to download it just to hear how bad her voice really is! *almost*…

Personally I find Sunako’s voice to be nice on the ears. I think there is a raspy sound to it that appeals to me and feels more natural then a tight high pitched voice.

I like it ^^ Its my favorite. But i guess you really have to be a fan of it to like it. I like how the anime turned out~ It is loud, and crazy. But hey, thats why its so fun.

I have to say Sunako’s voice is better than most anime girl voices–impossibly high pitched and sounding as though their owners hadn’t reached puberty yet. How many real-life girls do you know who sound like that? But the guys are too effeminate, to be honest. Well, maybe not Kyouhei and Takenaga, but they look like it. And Ranmaru is interesting only when his fiancee is around with him, because for once, he is getting schooled! Yuki is just annoying.
