In Honour of Ergo Proxy 9…

…I present an alternative opening theme for the series (please excuse all the grammar mistakes - correct them all at your leisure, people who actually have a decent grasp of the Japanese language!)

Make a tune up in your head; I know I have. I’d like to think that Pino sings this song.

(incidentally; this song is mildly spoilery for Ergo Proxy, but honestly if you haven’t worked out this spoiler by either reading my entries or watching the first couple of episodes yourself you’re probably a bit slow in the head, no offence meant…)

(dokidoki guruguru pa-pa-paaan!)

shi no dairinin to usa-chan ga
kurayami no daiboukensha
egao mo hikari mo iranai
MOODY na SHOKKU wa subarashii

matte matte, dakishimetai yo
mahou no kotoba wa shiranai
anata ga dandan kichigaijimiru
dakara anata wo aishiteiru

(YEAH YEAH YEAH!)

Mahou Shounen Vincent-chan
Onegai me wo samashite!
(YAY!)
Mahou Shounen Vincent-chan
Watashi no daisukina hitogoroshi!
(GO GO!)

Anata wa Real-san wo mamoru koto ga dekinai~
(OH NO!)

Thankyouverymuch.

EDIT: corrected some grammar (as ever, cheers wao!) and here’s a translation:

The Proxy of Death and a bunny rabbit
Are the adventurers of darkness
There’s no need for smiles or light
Moody shocks are great!

Wait, wait, I want to hold you
I don’t know the magic words
You are gradually going insane
And that’s why I love you!

Magical Boy Vincent-chan
Please, open your eyes!
Magical Boy Vincent-chan
My favourite murderer!

You can’t protect Real~

Be glad I was only bored enough to think up a TV size version. Proper Ergo Proxy 9 entry coming soon!

  1. Mahou Shounen Vincent-chan…

lol… althought my japanese is bad, but I think I get the idea. Great song! Actually it sounds familar.. but I could be wrong.. :P

  2. ZOMG! It totally wins for having matte matte in it. \o/

And that is really good by the way, I’ve been thinking about making a parody of ep 3 except with Mahou Shounen Vincent-tan … since it’s the matte matte episode nad the first ep Ril sees Vincent open his eyes and she goes “O_O”. Except in this version, Vincent does a henshinorama. Which of course stuns everyone so much that the shocked Iggy lets go of the shocked Ril, all while the very shocked secret admirer Tuxedo Raul looks on… ah darn, it’s just not funny enough, I should draw it out already…

This sorely does need singing though - I almost want to volunteer, but my voice is nowhere like Pino’s…

  3. You should try my trick also. Change the OP of Ergo to become Voltes Five’s … I literally ROFLd because of the idiocy.

  4. OK, some other nyasty comments:

    A. MOODY na SHOKKU? I think the Japanese don’t use SHOKKU as a real noun, it sounds a bit too odd… actually do they even use MOODY? If you want to say emo or something ’round that line, hm… UTSU is a great word to describe Vincent, indeedy. Though it’s less in the sense of “PLS SAEV ME AAAAARGH” type of emo and more like “the world sucks, let’s die now” emo. There must be something to describe overemotional reactions but I can’t think of one…

    B. kichigaijimiru is a bit of a weird word, I think. How about “okashiku naru” (remember Yuu? Boku wa okashiku narun da to omou yo. ;)) or “kurutteiku”, perhaps?

    C. I think “anata ga dandan ______” might sound better than “dandan anata ga _______”

    D. Maybe “shi no dairinin to usa-chan WA” instead of ga because they aren’t doing anything. The line is talking about how they are something (like “kyou wa nichiyoubi”, “kare wa warui hito desu” I don’t know how to explain it - frankly speaking I get fuddled by gas and was a lot, but this is my instinct….

    E. I don’t really get what the “datte” is doing there. Datte usually implies a “but, …” or “that’s because, you see…” kind of sentence so it ought to ilnk up with the previous line. I can’t really see the link though… If you mean “It’s because of that that I love you” then perhaps “dakara koso anata wo aishiteiru” or “sonna anata wo aishiteiru” might work?

    F. “kurayami ni daiboukensha” sounds a bit wrong, since you’re not applying daiboukensha to kurayami. Maybe you meant kurayami no daiboukensha? This is just my insticnt again though.

Gah, I should just shuddup already :>

  5. I don’t understand anything wao’s saying, but it’s wao, and she’s = t3h masta. Anyway, I made up my own COOLER lyrics … l0l.

Recommended to sing along with the Voltes Five song … FUN, and STUPID!

  6. The “datte” was supposed to be a contrast - “You’re gradually going mad, but I love you (anyway)” or something? Admittedly I had to look up “I go mad” in a dictionary…

MOODY na SHOKKU was my concession to the random Engrish/random French (Flench?) in mahou shoujo OPs; you know, like “odore inochi no pas de deux” in the Tutu OP or… you know, I can’t think of any other examples off the top of my head, but I’m sure there are some. Mirumo de Pon’s OP springs to mind, but then keiki is just how they say cake so…

“kurayami ni daiboukensha” was supposed to be “adventurers in the night”; I think you’re right that “no” is better here, I think I was trying to think of a verb for “adventure” (bouken wo suru, perhaps?) and then just left it.

Corrections gratefully received; the theme song MUST be perfect, after all. Who knows, in the summer maybe I’ll write the music :p

And Michael, you’ve cheated; at least I made up my own words :p I don’t know Voltes Five at all I’m afraid; it never aired on telly here (I’m guessing you’re Filipino given that seems to be the only place it aired in English?).

  7. Oh. If it’s I love you EVEN THOUGH you’re going mad then it ought to be “sorenishitemo anata wo aishiteru” or “soredemo anata wo aishiteiru”or something along that line. “Dakara anata wo aishiteru” would be I love you BECAUSE you’re going mad.

Perhaps you’re aiming more at a “Anata ga donna ni okashiku nattemo DAI JOU BU!, datte anata wo ZUTTO aishitekurete A-GE-RU KARA~” kind of thing?

For your efforts I have decided to very unwisely spend some time randomly doodling with my tablet at 2 bloody am in the morning although I have a test later today. I think I’m going mad with Vincent. Yay!

  8. wow. those are great drawings. banzai. banzai. i lmaod.

yep, i cheated. although wao’s grammar is as anally correct as ever, wow to wao … and those drawings are great. better save them to the computer to pick fun at vince.

yay! give me some EP 9 comments!

  9. What about this,

    Shi no dairinin to usa-chan,
    Kurayami no Daiboukensha.
    Egao mo hikari mo iranai,
Yuuutsu no kimochi ga sorede ii

Matte matte kimi wo dakishimetai kedo,
    Mahou no kotoba wo shiranai.
Dandan boke ni natteiru kimi ni,
    Nanka hitomebore shichattakara.

    Mahou Shounen Vincent-chan
    Hayaku me wo akete,
    Mahou Shounen Vincent-chan
    Kitto honmei no koroshiya nanda.

  10. While that’s gramatically correct and natural and all of that…

I DEMAND MORE ENGRISH! There must be more silly floofy engrish and sparkly phrases with cute thingies or it won’t do it justice!!!!

  11. That’s based on the opening song of Bokusatsu Dokuru-chan, right?
