Zegapain Episode 3 - The Deutera Zone

Ah, ya bastards, don’t pull cliffhangers like that!

To briefly recap, since you’ve probably all watched this already; there is a game exactly like the world of Zegapain called Pain of Zega in which someone leaves Kyo a message in a locker telling him not to trust Shizuno. After the Fight of the Week (involving destroying a “Deutera Zone” as per the title, which is like a big kekkai over certain areas inhabited by the evil aliens whose names I can’t remember), Kyo ends up at said locker, and his hand disappears when he tries to touch it; plus someone leaves a message in a building saying “Do not trust the visible world”. Mmm, external world scepticism; see, ALL anime is revision!

Mecha fights are bleh, but I’m loving the RahXephon-for-younguns atmosphere of Zegapain; even if I have no idea which world is supposed to be the real one (or are there layers of reality?) but I’m damn sure I want to find out exactly what’s going on. Less glowy green mecha battles, more weirdness and character interactions please! (I have absolutely no idea what was going on with the swimming stuff and Kyo’s “friends”; presumably they all used to swim together, but since when did they give up and start hating him? Curioser and curioser).

  1. Kyo somehow messed up a relay, but I’m not sure how. As for swimming stuff, the OP shows Kyo dissolving into fish and Ryoko into (from memory) birds or butterflies or something.
So I think there’s going to be some sort of naturalistic theme hiding in here.

    PS. Welcome back.

  2. sure,Zegapain needs more weirdness.ep3 looks abit better than ep2.If the episode was ended without that cliff-hanger at the end of the episode,I already drop to watch this anime already. Not up to RahXephon,up to Fafner is enough for me.
