Air Gear Trick 1
OP - Chain (Back-on) - mmmm, nu-metal. Doesn’t actually sound all that bad, although the OP itself is a bit nothing-y - hardly bad, but for some reason it doesn’t really connect with me for any reason. I don’t know what I’m talking about…
ED - Sky-2-High (skankfunk) - “dance” music (drum and bass maybe? I’m not up on you kids and your hippity hop music)and live-action “skating” footage.

Ikki lives with four girls - Mikan (short pink hair, aggressive), Ume (green-haired loli), Rika (brown-haired scary/pretty one) and Ringo (meganekko big breasted love interest). He’s a wannabe toughguy who gets involved in a fight with the Skull Saders, a gang of roller-blading thugs; he loses, unsurprisingly.
Anyway, he really wants to try this thing called Air Trek, which is basically super-powered rollerblading, but he doesn’t have any skates of his own; one night, after trying to perv on the girls while they’re in the bath, he ends up sneaking into a forbidden closet in the house where he finds a whole load of Air Trek stuff and nicks some; he gives it a whirl, and ends up crashing his way into a big Air Trek gathering where the Skull Saders are after a case of mistaken identity involving a very, very disturbing looking woman. Despite somehow getting the pneumatic Simca on his side, things look bleak as a massive fight breaks out until, unsurprisingly, the girls turn up to kick some butt as part of the “Sleeping Forest” Air Trek team - while they take care of the grunts, Ikki ends up heading after the head of the Skull Saders and somehow being absolutely amazing, as if he was flying.
Well, I think that’s all. Air Gear isn’t a bad show, as far as I can tell; surprisingly decent animation given that it’s from Toei, and the plot changes from the manga (having just skimmed through the first few chapters) mostly serve to get things going a bit faster. The premise is quite novel for a shounen fighting story, the cast doesn’t seem too bad, the fanservice isn’t too icky (and mostly has digital crows covering it up…) and there’s nothing really objectionable about it at all; if you’re looking for a decent shounen fanservice action show you could probably do worse, and it hopefully won’t go downhill fast like Tenjou Tenge (from the same author) did.
However, I won’t be watching any more of the show, personally; it’s perfectly fine, and I haven’t got any particular reason to drop it or anything, but I just don’t particularly care if I see any more of it, and I reckon that’s good enough for me. So I’m not going to bash the show or anything, but I’m just not really up for Air Gear at the moment.

“surprisingly decent animation given that it’s from Toei”?
LoL, I suppose so, but some nice CG was about it really. I couldn’t take it seriously from the point that the fat guy slid across the screen (and down some stairs!) in the OP! I mean, if you aren’t going to have decent animation in the OP then what hope does it have of retaining anything approaching decent animation in the actual show? I can’t say I’m inclined to stick around to find out - I” just read the manga instead.
The music was pretty good though - very fitting at least.

I didn’t find the OP or ED songs much to my liking, but the soundtrack is refreshingly different.
While the rollerblading scenes were cool, for the most part the action was boring (speed lights and fight sfx! yay).
