Nijuu Mensou no Musume Episode 7 - Akechi Appears

With Chiko returned to her “loving” (and now, actually murderous) aunt, and her PR being handled by the slimey Akine, she ekes out an existence in a manner even more catatonic than she was in episode 1 - even willingly eating her poisoned soup. However, once it is insinuated by a mysterious detective named Akechi (who is, of course, the protagonist of the Edogawa Ranpo novels that the Nijuu Mensou character originally comes from) that Nijuu Mensou may still be alive, Chiko finds a new purpose and even decides to go to school to keep herself aware of what’s going on. But with not only hostile schoolgirls to contend with, but humanoid machines robbing banks, life isn’t going to quiet down for the daughter of Twenty Faces just yet…
The rivalry that Shunka, the prissy auburn-haired schoolgirl that takes a dislike to Chiko, displays is almost totally negated by her major presence in the OP and ED. Of course, seeing HOW she and Chiko make up could be interesting; I mostly find it amusing that exactly the same plot device looks to drive the first episode of Telepathy Shoujo Ran, which starts this Saturday!
Otherwise, a much slower episode than the big climax last time as to be expected. I do wonder how Tome, the maid, fits into the series given that she seems completely oblivious of Chiko’s real feelings and mostly just fusses over her; I hope she gets something slightly more interesting to do in future now that Chiko seems very much house-bound for the immediate future.

I agree that the OP/ED do a bit of a disservice in showing who is going to end up in Chiko’s crew (to say nothing of those horrible moustaches). That evil aunt really needs to go, because I am so tired of her making the same damn soup every day. And what happened to that old butler guy?
