Nijuu Mensou no Musume Episode 4 - Aspirations of a Thief

Chiko trains. Chiko does a job. Hurray for Chiko kneeing men in the balls!
It’s another by-the-very-enjoyable-numbers episode for Nijuu Mensou here. The continued development of Chiko as a character is of course important now that she counts as something of a fully-fledged team member, and it is of course wonderful that she’s come out of her shell somewhat since the beginnig of the show. However, she’s still something of a cipher - although her consideration of Nijuu Mensou’s crew as a “family” is endearing, and her crush/father-figure/whatever it is with Nijuu Mensou is obvious but nicely done, she doesn’t have much of a personality of her own at his point.
I am, of course, blogging looooong after watching this episode, so I know full well what’s coming. It doesn’t really change my appraisal of her character here, though.
I think it’s this episode where Chiko wanders into Nijuu Mensou’s library. What a strange little speech he gives her about books, though. I can’t remember it offhand - I’ll try and remember to come back to it when she flashbacks to it later on.

I marathon’d the first half dozen episodes at once, and I’m entirely glad that I did. I may even be enjoying this series more than Macross Frontier, which would ordinarily be so Relevant To My Interests as to peg a meter somewhere.
